Former UFC champion Cain Velasquez will make his comeback to the Octagon on Feb 17 at UFC Pheonix. One of the best heavyweights of all time Velasquez last fought Travis Browne at UFC 200 defeating him via a first round TKO. However, he has faced a string of injuries throughout the past couple of years keeping him out of action.

Cain will be up against an absolute hard-hitter in the form of Francis Ngannou, who is coming off a victory over his perennial opponent Curtis Blaydes. The loss snapped a two fight losing streak for Ngannou which came against Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis. Cain took to Twitter to share a video of him training and he looked sharp and ready.

Long time training partner of Cain and former Strikeforce champion Josh Thompson, while talking to BJPenn.com told that he expects UFC to replace Daniel Cormier with Cain Velasquez after he retires later this year.

“The thing is, ‘DC’ is not going to be around much longer. Let alone to save a card last minute like he’s doing for UFC 230. In the future, they will be needing someone like Cain Velasquez to step up and do it. It’s up to the UFC to step up and pay him a little extra money or risk having a poor heavyweight division. Heavyweights sell man. Especially a heavyweight like Cain Velasquez. He knows his worth and hopefully the UFC will see that and get things done. Cain Velasquez brings with him the entire Mexican market and that is a big deal.”
