MMA fans have been waiting for the fight between Tony Ferguson and UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for a long time now. The pair have been scheduled to fight four times and the fight has fallen through each time.

But this time around, MMA fans might be in luck as UFC president Dana White has given an update regarding the match-up and he believes that the fight will take place in first quarter of 2020.

Nothing is holding [that matchup] up,” White told the Schmo in a recent interview. “The fight is in the process of being made. It’s obviously the next fight to make, so it will happen.”

Khabib is coming off of an impressive third-round submission loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 which took place in Abu Dhabi last month and on the other hand, Tony Ferguson is riding on an impressive 12-fight winning streak and has beaten Donald Cerrone in his last fight via TKO in the second round at UFC 238.

He also talked about Conor McGregor’s recent press conference in Moscow, where the Irishmen said that he would be fighting on January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

We gotta get it done [January 18 McGregor return], the fights not done yet, no deals are done, no contracts have been signed, but yes that’s what we are looking to do,” White concluded.
