Bellator 237: Fedor vs. Rampage, a.k.a. Bellator vs. Rizin: Japan is finally in the books now and it turned out to be just as expected, a great showcase for fans of both these organizations. The event featured a legendary match up between two of the most iconic heavyweight fighters in MMA history, Fedor Emelianenko and Quinton Rampage Jackson serving as a headliner. However, this highly anticipated main event bout only barely lasted a couple of minutes in the first round, as the Russian rolled back the years and brutally KOed Rampage Jackson planting him face first into the canvas via an overhand right.
Apart from Emelianenko and Rampage locking horns with each other in the main event, the main card also featured Bellator MMA’s former lightweight champion Michael Chandler, Lorenz Larkin and popular fan favourite lightweight fighter Michael Venom Page as well.
From the Japanese promotion, Rizin’s roster some notable fighters such as Jarred Brooks, Jon Tuck, Shinsho Anzai, etc were also featured on the fight card.
Emelianenko now has a professional MMA record of 39-6 (1), whereas Rampage had an MMA record of 38-14. While the duo had never faced each other before, Jackson over the years had been extremely vocal about facing the Russian. Leading up to this fight, he had himself stated that he had almost been obsessed about fighting The Last Emperor.
As soon as their fight began, Jackson looked rather stiff and uncomfortable being at striking distance. Fedor soon picked up the pace slightly and first dropped Rampage with an overhand right, before finishing him on the ground with a few more shots.
