One of MMA’s all-time greats Georges St-Pierre was last seen making some history inside the Octagon at UFC 217 when he beat Michael Bisping.
He has beaten the likes of Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit, Matt Hughes, BJ Penn etc. He won world titles in two different weight classes. Many believe that GSP is the ultimate GOAT. Although there are fans with divided opinions who like to bring Anderson Silva and Jon Jones into the mix.
Recently, GSP also expressed interest in fighting UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Canadian fighter has said that he would fight Khabib in the 165lbs division which isn’t ideal for the Dagestani, as he has previously stated that he doesn’t have any plans on moving up in weight class.
However, Tristar head coach Frias Zahabi believes that the GOAT crown should undisputedly hover over GSP and that anyone who has ever been flagged by USADA should be eliminated from the GOAT discussion.
“I think Georges making 155 is a thing of the past now, I don’t think it’s a possibility……I mean it’s really up to George, I don’t really want to speak for Georges, that’s something he would decide
“Eliminate anybody who has been flagged by USADA and of course he[GSP] is the greatest of all time…How come in wrestling,if you get flagged, they take away every title you ever had…and why in MMA do we only slap a suspension for six months?why?what’s the difference? We are hitting each other in the head, it should be the opposite,”
“Khabib may surpass him but he has to be champion for many years still and he has to defend his title many years and stay dominant as he has. He is a candidate [for GOAT discussions], he hasn’t done it yet, but he is a candidate,” Zahabi concluded.
