Francis Ngannou is one of the top fighters in the UFC Heavyweight Division currently. He had a horrible start to 2018 after having gone through most of the UFC Heavyweight Division easily. Recently he talked about how his mentality had helped him to reach this point.
“My mentality is what has brought me here. If I didn’t have that mentality, I couldn’t have gone through what I’ve been through to be here today.”
A loss to Stipe Miocic, followed by another bad loss to Derrick Lewis saw him a shadow of the fighter he had once been. However, he made a full recovery and showed the world that he not only still had it, but that he could plough through opposition after finishing them in seconds. At UFC Beijing, he knocked out Curtis Blaydes, finishing the fight within seconds.
“I was born and raised in Africa, and I’m from a poor family. But I’ve had this mentality that I can’t give up. I’ve been through hell to be here today.”
His next obstacle lies in the coming event, where he will face the returning Cain Velasquez in the main event of the UFC on ESPN card. His fighter’s mentality might go a long way in helping him to get a favourable result.
.@francis_ngannou says he doesn't have to answer to critics questioning his "fighter’s mentality" ahead of #UFCPhoenix: "I can't give up. I've been through hell to be here today."
