Ben Askren is all set to enter the UFC Octagon for the second time this weekend. He will be facing up against Jorge Masvidal at the main card of UFC 239.
Askren’s last outing ended up in a victory. However, that didn’t came without the expense of controversy. Hence, he will be looking to make a mark that was expected from a man of his caliber.
His opponent, Jorge Masvidal, is coming off of a knockout of former contender Darren Till. The UFC took to Twitter to hype the contest between the two welterweights. They released a footage of how Ben Askren reacted when Masvidal shut out the lights of Till in the second round of their meeting.
Askren didn’t look a lot surprised at the knockout. He took a jibe at Masvidal when his hands was raised by the referee. Ben said that Masvidal just won his first fight in three years. In all reality, he wasn’t lying. Masvidal’s last two outing were back in 2017. And both of them resulted in defeats. The comment just went on to show us how natural trash talking is for “Funky” Askren.
During the post fight interview, Masvidal would go on to ask Dana White for a title shot. Askren was all cringy while this was going on. His facial expression showed his lack of faith in Masvidal’s demand.

“It’s a strange belt call out, considering he lost his last two fights”, remarked an ever jovial Askren from the cage side.
UFC 239 takes place on July 6, 2019 at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
