UFC 236 turned out to be exactly what fight fans wished it to be. The event was headlined by two interim title fights that superseded all the expectations levied upon them. The main event saw a long rematch between Dustin Poirier and featherweight champion Max Holloway. While Poirier managed to get his hands raised, Holloway displayed tremendous heart and showed why he is considered one of the best in the business.

Prior to the defeat, Holloway was riding a 13 fight winning streak. Hence his seven year old son was accustomed to seeing his father win every time. Seeing his father lose for the first time made young Rush cry in front of everyone. However, he was consoled by none other than the man who battered Holloway inside the Octagon, Dustin Poirier.

The UFC released sneak peaks of “The Thrill and Agony – UFC 236”. After winning the interim featherweight title, Poirier comes across a crying Rush Holloway. He consoles him and tells him that his father is a true champion.

“Hey, your Dad’s a champion,” Poirier tells Rush. “Your Dad’s fine, he’s good.”

Poirier also met Daniel Cormier, who congratulated him for being the interim champ. “The Diamond” asked DC to ask his “boy” Khabib to be ready. “Hey I can wrestle too”, remarked Dustin. Given that UFC president Dana White has already made it clear that the winner of Holloway vs Poirier would go on to meet Khabib, a fight between “The Diamond” and “The Eagle” doesn’t look that far fetched of a dream.
