New footage has surfaced of phone-gate. Conor McGregor was arrested by the police in Miami a month back, when he allegedly knocked a phone out of a fan’s hand, stomped on it, and then made off with it. The fighter was later released on bail, although facing legal action from both the police and the fan in question.
The new video by TMZ shows the arrest of the fighter, and it reveals that Conor McGregor did not put up a fight when the police came to arrest him — however, he did not make things easier for them either.
Apparently, according to MMA Junkie, Conor McGregor kept the police waiting while he called his legal counsel, making them impatient.
When a McGregor representative, told them to not worry as he would cooperate, the police replied, “I get it – I just don’t want to be out here waiting forever.”
Since the incident, the fan, Ahmed Abdirzak has dropped the suit against McGregor after a settlement, although he still faces prosecution by the justice system. McGregor’s attorneys will be pushing for a plea deal as if he is found guilty, along with prior incidents, the fighter might not be able to travel to the United States again.
While he is retired, the fighter is expected to return to the cage soon.
