What will happen to the UFC 316 stars next?

For a strong UFC 316 event, the UFC traveled to Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday. Merab Dvalishvili rematched with Sean O’Malley for the bantamweight title in the main event. Julianna Pena defended her bantamweight title against Kayla Harrison in the co-main event.

In the end, Dvalishvili defeated O’Malley once more, but this time he defended his bantamweight title by submitting “Suga.” Harrison won the women’s bantamweight title by submitting Pena in the co-main event. Here is what I believe should happen to the event’s stars after UFC 316.

Merab Dvalishvili

In the main event of UFC 316, Merab Dvalishvili was rematching with Sean O’Malley in an attempt to defend his title for the second time. In order to win, Dvalishvili managed to subdue O’Malley and sank in a choke.

Following the victory, Dvalishvili ought to take against Cory Sandhagen. Dana White believed that a rematch with Umar Nurmagomedov should take place, but Sandhagen makes the most sense, so he must first win.

Sean O’Malley

Since he will find it difficult to obtain another chance against the champion, Sean O’Malley is now 0–2 against Dvalishvili. Given that he might potentially advance to featherweight, his future is uncertain. O’Malley will need to improve on his takedown defense, which was another problem.

If O’Malley remains at bantamweight after the defeat, the UFC will probably attempt to offer “Suga” a fight that can be won. The next fight that makes sense is against Rob Font, which might be a big card match on pay-per-view. It would be an entertaining striking match, and O’Malley would probably win.
