For a strong UFC 320 event, the UFC traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday. Magomed Ankalaev defended his light heavyweight title against Alex Pereira in the main event. Merab Dvalishvili defended his bantamweight title against Cory Sandhagen in the co-main event.
Ultimately, Pereira defeated Ankalaev via first-round knockout to regain his title. In order to defend his title, Dvalishvili easily defeated Sandhagen in the co-main event. Here is what I believe should happen to the event’s stars after UFC 320.
Alex Pereira
At UFC 320, Alex Pereira disproved many of his skeptics and won the light heavyweight title once more. Ankalaev seemed to have his number after Pereira lost the opening bout. However, Periera quickly overpowered Ankalaev and won by TKO a little more than a minute into the bout to regain his title.
Pereira stated that he would like to advance to heavyweight after the victory. However, the next natural matchup would be against Carlos Ulberg. Ulberg should fight Pereira in early 2026 since the trilogy is unnecessary after Jiri Prochazka defeated Khalil Rountree at UFC 320.
Magomed Ankalaev
Magomed Ankalaev was the betting favorite going into UFC 320 after defeating Alex Pereira earlier this year. However, he lost his belt in his first attempt to defend it after being caught too early and unable to recover.
Ankalaev is starting over after the defeat and will probably need a few victories to have another chance at the crown. Ankalaev’s next matchup with Jiri Prochazka makes sense. The winner of this bout might face the winner of Pereira-Ulberg since both Prochazka and Ankalaev need another victory to have a chance at the title.
Merab Dvalishvili

Because of his dominance against Cory Sandhagen at UFC 320, Merab Dvalishvili is still the bantamweight champion. Dvalishvili outfought the American 243-to-149 and outlasted Sandhagen for more than 10 minutes of the bout, landing 20 takedowns.
Dvalishvili put on another strong performance, so it’s very obvious where he’ll fight next. At UFC 321, the winner of Umar Nurmagomedov vs. Mario Bautista should square off against the bantamweight champion. The first quarter of 2026 may see the championship bout.
Cory Sandhagen
At UFC 320, Cory Sandhagen finally had a chance to capture the undisputed UFC bantamweight title, but he lost to Merab Dvalishvili. Sandhagen was overwhelmed in the defeat and struggled to stop Dvalishvili’s takedowns and get back up.
Sandhagen is starting over after the defeat and will require a number of victories to have another chance at the championship. However, the apparent opponent is Sean O’Malley. Since neither is likely to challenge Dvalishvili for the title, the time is ideal for an entertaining bout.
