UFC President Dana White has stated that Conor McGregor vs Max Holloway rematch fight is not going to happen any time soon as Conor is still injured and has not recovered from the injury he suffered in his last fight against Dustin Poirier. Conor McGregor has recently been targeting Max Holloway and has talked about a potential rematch fight several times. The duo regularly take shots at each other and both of them have hinted towards a fight between them. But looks like UFC President is not interested in making this fight happen as he feels that Conor won’t be able to fight in the coming months.
Max Holloway just fought Yair Rodriguez in an absolute war at UFC Fight Night 197. The fight was a back and forth battle and both the fighters gave their potential best, but it was Max who didn’t lose his composure in the heated exchanges and used his experience to get that decision over a no.3 ranked featherweight contender.
“We’ll see what happens. We’ll see what happens, the UFC, there’s Hunter (Campbell), there’s Sean (Shelby) right there, that’s their damn job. Bro, I have a win over the 155-pound champion (Charles Oliveira), we have (Alexander Volkanovski) and stuff, I’m on the shortlist for Conor McGregor, tell him to hit my line. We ready whenever,” Holloway said. “To be the best, you have to beat the best, and the best is ‘Blessed.’ They gotta come after me, baby.”
Dana White Rejects Conor McGregor and Max Holloway rematch fight
After the UFC Fight Night 197 was wrapped up, UFC President Dana White was asked about the main event winner, Max Holloway. To which Dana White replied by saying that he feels the third fight with UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski makes more sense than the Conor McGregor rematch.
“It’s one of those things – it was razor thin, (Holloway) just comes in and puts on a performance like this,” White told MMA Junkie and other reporters post-fight at UFC Fight Night 197. “This is just a guy that Volkanovski’s going to have to just him out of the way and do it again.”
“I don’t know what’s next for Max, but it does make sense to see him and Volkanovski again,” White said. “Conor’s not even – Conor’s still hurt. To even talk about Conor is silly.”
