The UFC Debut of MVP

Page made his highly anticipated UFC debut at UFC 299 on 9th March in Miami, where he faced off against Kevin Holland. Although it was his debut in the coveted Octagon, the matchup was no easy task; the UFC didn’t give him a warm-up fight. Instead, they pitted him against “Trailblazer” – a tough opponent who is known for his entertaining style and trash talk inside the cage. The electrifying three round clash ended with a unanimous decision win for Page, marking a stepping stone for his rise through the UFC welterweight rankings.

The 170-pound division of the UFC is swarming with talents, raising multiple theories and speculations on who MVP should face on his second UFC outing. Here are a few intriguing options:

Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson: A clash between two elite strikers would be a dream matchup. Currently ranked 8th in the division, Wonderboy’s karate-based style and precision striking could create fireworks against Page’s unorthodox attacks. Both fighters have a penchant for putting on exciting performances, making this a potential Fight Night headliner in London.

Douglas Lima: A former colleague, Page has already faced Lima at Bellator 267 in October 2021, and their first encounter ended in a split decision victory for Page. A rematch in the UFC would be a high-stakes battle, especially considering Lima’s reputation as a former Bellator welterweight champion. The storyline of redemption and proving himself on the biggest stage would add drama to this matchup.

Garry Tonon: Tonon, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and accomplished grappler, recently transitioned to MMA. His striking has improved significantly, and he’s known for his aggressive style. A matchup with Page would test both fighters’ skills and could headline a London-based Fight Night card.

Regardless of the opponent, Page’s unique style and showmanship guarantee an exciting fight. His flashy kicks, spinning attacks, and unpredictable movement keep fans on the edge of their seats. As he continues his journey in the UFC, we can expect more thrilling matchups and memorable moments from the enigmatic Michael “Venom” Page.
