Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is coming off of an impressive second-round submission victory over Darren Till at UFC 228 and he earlier made it clear that he wanted to headline UFC 230 fight card and defend his title against Colby Covington, which looks highly unlikely now as he told ESPN in a recent interview that he has dislocated his thumb during his most recent title defense against Darren Till early this month, where he tore three ligaments.

”They are doing a shoestring surgery to provide more stability for my hand and minimize the potential arthritis,” Woodley said, speaking about the extent of his injury.

Woodley has stated that the surgery is scheduled for mid-October. So it’s highly unlikely that we will be able to to see Tyron Woodley return to the octagon later this year.

UFC 230 is scheduled to take place on Nov.3  at the Madison Square Garden in New York and till now the main event hasn’t been finalized. However, the co-main event is scheduled between Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier.
