According to media reports, the fight between WBC Heavyweight world champ Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury on December 1 had generated about 325,000 pay-per-view(PPV) buys on Showtime. This was quite impressive and was a huge draw keeping in mind that this was Wilder’s first match in PPV against Fury who came back to the boxing world after retiring from the sport 3 years ago and battling through personal problems in his life.
Wilder(40-0-1,39 KOs) was the betting favourite coming on to the fight .The fight ended in a controversial draw at the Staples Center in Los Angeles as there was a lot of backlash by Fury fans who weren’t happy with the decision and clearly felt that Fury had won kept on saying that Fury almost outboxed Wilder for the majority of all the 12 rounds. But Fury was knocked down in the 9th and the 12th round with the last round knockdown being very controversial as Fury was almost out cold with his eyes rolled back on the floor while referee Jack Reiss emphasized on a 10 count which somehow enthusiased the spirited Gypsy king to rise again and continue to fight.
