CM Punk and the WWE are not on the same page for almost half a decade but things are about to get nasty between the two parties. Punk will be going to trial against WWE’s Doctor Chris Amann later this month.
Dave Meltzer reported on the latest version of Wrestling Observer Radio that CM Punk will appear in court for the trial between him and Chris Amann. Meltzer said that CM Punk is in a bad position here because of his upcoming UFC and that he will have to postpone the hearing until after the fight.
He’s got that [WWE lawsuit], remember he’s going to trial on the 21st [of May]. Unless there’s a delay, yeah May 21st. He should not be fighting, should he? He may ask for a delay. In the middle of a lawsuit, three weeks from a fight, and that’s a lawsuit where he’s going to be cross-examined and gonna testify in. No, that’s a bad deal. Yeah, he’s going to have to get that thing delayed past June 9.
The former 5-Time World Champion has a match against Mike “Truth” Jackson on June 9th, 2018 at UFC 225 in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. This will be Punk’s second outing in the octagon after he lost his first match against Mickey Gall in under three minutes.
If these reports are indeed true, then Punk’s fight against Jackson might get affected. The court demands Punk’s presence and the trial will not proceed unless and until he is there.
We will keep you updated on this situation as the story further unfolds.
