In what’s turning out to be really exciting news for both pro-wrestling and MMA fans, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has hinted about making his WWE debut. Velasquez posted a tweet in which he called out the WWE Universal champion, Brock Lesnar and claimed that he would love to take away his belt.
WWE’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view turned out to be a huge success with some great matches. The PPV will forever remain etched in pro-wrestling history as the one in which former UFC superstar Ronda Rousey made her WWE debut. The main-event of the evening, i.e. the men’s elimination chamber match which consisted of stars like John Cena, Finn Balor, Braun Strowman, etc was arguably the best match on the card. The stakes were high in the headlining match as the winner was scheduled to get the next title shot against Lesnar at Wrestlemania.
The event had a lot of MMA stars in attendance, with the most notable attendees being the UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier and Velasquez. “The Beast Incarnate” and the A.K.A man share some history together, as Lesnar was brutally battered and knocked-out cold by the Mexican in a title match for Lesnar’s title at UFC 121. Velasquez, who is considered to be the greatest UFC heavyweight by a lot of people, started his UFC career by defeating and dethroning Lesnar.
After the Elimination Chamber PPV, Velasquez posted some pictures on Twitter. He also added a caption revealing how this was the first WWE event he had ever attended. The MMA great then went on to claim that he could feel “at home” in the WWE. He then took a sly dig at Lesnar by claiming that he wouldn’t mind taking away another belt from him.
Here’s what the former UFC champion tweeted:
Cain Velasquez could surely become a huge star in the WWE. He still has a few more years to reclaim his lost UFC title. However, with his niggling injury problems, if he decides to switch the octagon for the squared circle then he is guaranteed to have a successful run in the WWE. The sight of these two behemoths potentially locking horns in the main-event of Wrestlemania is surely mouth-watering.
