Ukrainian mixed martial artist Yaroslav Amosov (26–0), the reigning Bellator MMA welterweight champion who joined his country’s resistance against the ongoing war against Russia, recently retrieved his championship belt from his residence in the city of Irpin, which was recently liberated by the Ukrainian army.

Yaroslav Amosov says he won the belt “for the second time”

Yaroslav Amosov, who was due to defend his Michael Page on 13th May, opted to defend his country instead and pulled out of the fight to don the military uniform and join his compatriots against the Russian army.

The 28-year-old hails from Irpin in the Kiyv Oblast, the city which was recently retaken by the Ukrainian forces. In a recent clip that Amosov shared on Instagram, he is seen climbing up from the basement of the house, holding his Bellator title.

In the clip, “Dynamo”, in his full military gear, laughed and said that he’s “getting the belt for the second time,” and also added that “it’s in one piece and it’s rescued.”

“A belt with the great history. Now I definitely won’t give it away. My mom hid it well and it survived the bombing,” the caption of the post read.

Last month, Yaroslav Amosov made headlines for getting vocal against the Russian aggression in the country, revealing that the neighbouring troops were shooting civillians and shelling orphanages and regular houses.

“They believe that you [the Russian people] are saving us. You’re not saving us, I don’t know how people of Ukraine will forgive Russia for what they did to our country. And this is not even the end,” he said on Instagram.

Yaroslav Amosov clinched the Bellator MMA Welterweight title against Douglas Lima in the main event of Bellator 260 in June last year, defeating the Brazilian fighter via unanimous decision.
