Bellator 280 took place in France and was headlined by the heavyweight champion Ryan Bader who was defending his title against Cheick Kongo. The pair originally fought at Bellator 226, but the fight ended with an accidental eye poke and the fight was declared a no contest.
Bader dominated the fight entirely for the five rounds. While Kongo did have his moments early on when he started aggressively, but Bader used his wrestling to nullify Kongo’s advances and pressed him up against the cage.
In the end, all three judges scored it for Bader (50-45, 50-45, 50-45) as he retained his heavyweight championship for the second straight time.
