Justin Gaethje is one of those mixed martial artists who don’t back away from praising his opponents, and his most recent outing against Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC 274 was no different, as seen in a recent video clip released by the promotion.

Justin Gaethje acknowledged Charles Oliveira’s power

UFC 274, which took place on 7th May at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona had no lack of drama during the buildup to the event. One of the main talking points before the event was Oliveira failing to make weight and in the process, being stripped of his Lightweight title, making only Gaethje eligible to fight for the title.

Being his second UFC title shot, the former interim champion Gaethje had said before the fight that Oliveira was ‘not as powerful’ as Khabib and he would have to “walk through hell” just like the Russian to secure a win.

The fight, however, saw a dominating performance from “Do Bronx” who dropped “Highlight” with a huge shot, followed by executing a rear naked choke right in the first round to come out victorious.

Soon after the loss, Gaethje had went straight up to Oliveira, telling his opponent that he possesses a lot of power behind his punches, as it was revealed in the latest Thrill and the Agony video series by the UFC.

Oliveira, who has remained undefeated in the Octagon since 2018, has picked up 21 out of his 33 wins via submission, but the Brazilian’s power behind his punches is not a topic unknown, as his UFC 262 encounter against Michael Chandler ended in a TKO as Oliveira picked up the vacant 155-pound title.

Gaethje, on the other hand, has now lost 2 out of his last 3 outings in the Octagon, both of which have been title fights. In between his UFC 254 loss against Khabib and the recent setback against Oliveira, Gaethje defeated Chandler via unanimous decision atUFC 268 in November last year.
