Popular UFC featherweight Zabit Magomedsharipov has been slowly and steadily moving his way up in the echelons of the UFC featherweight rankings. Similarly, another UFC featherweight who has been quickly and instantly making his way up is Calvin Kattar. These two fighters have had somewhat slightly similar trajectories and they are now apparently on a path towards fighting each other.

Magomedsharipov has a professional MMA record of 17-1 and has not been defeated in over six years. Kattar is also currently riding high on a two-fight winning streak and has a professional MMA record of 20-3.

There was some hearsay previously that Magomedsharipov and Kattar might soon fight each other but it was recently all confirmed by noted MMA journalist Brett Okamoto of ESPN that according to Dana White a bout between the two will serve as the co-main event of the UFC Fight Night on October 18th in Boston. Here’s what Okamoto revealed in a tweet:

Breaking: Per Dana White, Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Calvin Kattar will co-headline UFC Fight Night on Oct. 18 in Boston. LOVE this fight. Magomedsharipov already being crowned as a future champ by some, but Kattar wanted this one, I’m told. Home game for the MA native.
