Swedish striker Zebaztian Kadestam will make his middleweight MMA debut against one of ONE Championship’s most revered legends when he faces retiring Myanmar icon Aung La N Sang at ONE Fight Night 36 on 4 October in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 34-year-old former ONE Welterweight MMA World Champion recognizes the significance of being chosen to face the 40-year-old two-division king in his farewell fight.
“For this fight, everything has been going to plan. Weight, training, eating, and mental. I cannot wait, and I’m honored to be part of this important fight that will be Aung La N Sang’s retirement fight,” Kadestam expressed.
The friendship between both fighters adds an emotional layer to this middleweight encounter, with Kadestam believing their mutual respect will create compelling action for fans.
“And I’m sure he is happy to be facing someone like me. Two good fighters, two friends, one winner. Especially with us being friends, I’m sure the fans are gonna enjoy this one,” the Swedish veteran said.
Kadestam enters riding a three-fight winning streak highlighted by his shocking knockout victory over Croatian superstar Roberto Soldic. His seven wins in ONE Championship record includes seven finishes, establishing him as one of the promotion’s most dangerous finishers.
The weight class change represents new territory for Kadestam, who dominated the welterweight division before moving up to face the Myanmar legend. Despite the friendship, he remains focused on his finishing instincts.
“I’m gonna be sticking to [my knockout power] in this fight against Aung La. It should be better. Of course, I’m always aiming for that knockout, but we will see what happens. But the goal is the knockout,” Kadestam said.
