Khabib Nurmagomedov (27-0) successfully defended his UFC lightweight championship against Conor McGregor (21-4) via fourth-round submission in the main event of UFC 229 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The Eagle after his submission win, jumped through the cage and launching himself into the crowd. His intended target was Dillon Danis.
Nevada State Athletic commission now wants to extend the temporary suspension to both McGregor and Khabib’s teammates for playing their part in the massive brawl which erupted at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas according to commission Nov.14 agenda.
The fighters named in the agenda include McGregor cornerman Dillon Danis, Nurmagomedov co-manager Rizvan Magomedov, and teammates Abubakar Nurmagomedov, Zubaira Tukhugov, and Esedulla Emiragaev.
Conor McGregor got attacked by Khabib’s teammate as one of them jumped cage and attacked the Irish star from behind. Following the brawl, three of Khabib’s teammates were detained by the police, but later Conor McGregor refused to press charges.
NSAC chairman Anthony Marnell said that while the UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov initiated the brawl, others involved should share in its consequences.
“But for the actions of Mr. Nurmagomedov, none of this would have happened,” Marnell said. “I hope the commission will not just focus on the two fighters in this case, because I think the commission has a history of looking at the actions of corner people, as well.”
