Holly Holm is not sure whether her formal rival Ronda Rousey will indeed return to the UFC, but if she does indeed, then Holm will be up for a rematch.
If she comes back that would be great to fight again: Holly Holm
The return of “Rowdy” has become one of the biggest topics in the mixed martial arts scene right now. The former bantamweight champion was dethroned by Holly Holm at UFC 153, followed by another loss to the then Bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes in 2016 at UFC 207, following which she dropped the curtains on MMA.
However, following Nunes’ retirement from MMA and the bantamweight title getting vacated, there are talks that Rousey is looking for a return to the UFC and might even contest for the 135-pound belt on her return.
Speaking about her formal rival at the UFC Vegas 77 media day, Holly Holm is not completely sure that Rousey will indeed make a comeback, she says if that happens, she would be all up for a rematch, either at bantamweight or featherweight.
“You know, I don’t know if she will really come back. Who knows if it is just talk? I know she is a very competitive person, there’s a reason why she was an Olympian and a reason why she was a champion for so long,” said Holm.
“So, I would absolutely revisit that fight at either weight (135 or 145), I don’t think it is an advantage or disadvantage depending on the weight. I think either one. We will see if she comes back, I know she has been pretty busy with her life and whatever she wants to do, more power to her. But, if she comes back that would be great to fight again,” she added. Rousey vs. Holmes took place at UFC 193 in 2015, which remains one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport, as “The Preacher’s Daughter” knocked out Rousey in the second round to become the new 135-pound champ.
