Max Holloway is eager to see a second encounter between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira, aside from having high praise for the Brazilian.

Charles is amazing… he’s getting his rightful spot in October” Max Holloway

Oliveira, the former 155-pound champ, returned to action last Saturday night against Beneil Dariush in the co-main event of UFC 289, which served as a title eliminator, as the reigning lightweight champ Makhachev looks for his next opponent.

Even though the spectacular first round knockout of Dariush was expected to earn “Do Bronz” the rematch with Makhachev right away, Dana White backtracked on making that announcement during the fight week.

“I have no idea,” said White about Makhachev’s next opponent. “We’ll see how the fight goes on Saturday but yeah, it obviously makes a lot of sense. Right here, right now, makes a lot of sense. We’ll see what happens.”

While there’s the reigning Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is also in the conversation, Max Holloway told The Mac Life that feels its Oliveira who should be Makhachev’s next opponent.

“I died, I think Charles is amazing man,” said Holloway. “You know with all the naysayers and everybody saying he’s done, blah, blah, blah, he’s getting his rightful spot in October. To get that rematch, I’m excited to see it happen.”

“Oh brother, I think he did more than enough [to get a title shot]. But we’ll see, we’ve got Alex coming up on July 7th, if Alex goes out there and does something amazing, I think the UFC picks him too. We’ll see what happens, it’s a gamble right now,” he added. [H/T BJPenn.com]
