Tyson Fury is not only confident on defeating Francis Ngannou in their upcoming boxing clash next month, but also believes he would come out as a winner if they have a rematch afterwards in MMA.
I’ll beat him at boxing and I’ll beat him at a cage fight: Tyson Fury
The two heavyweights are set to square off on 28th October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Going into the fight, Ngannou is an underdog against the WBC heavyweight world champion whose title won’t be in the line.
However, if the fight would take place in the cage, many would see it as a huge advantage for the former UFC heavyweight champion and Ngannou himself also sees it, but “The Gypsy King” differs.
“I think I could beat you in a cage,” Fury told Ngannou during a heated verbal exchange at a pre-fight press conference on Thursday. “I would kick your ass in a cage, no problem. I’ll beat you in a boxing ring and then I’ll kick your ass in a cage. 100 percent.”
“I’ll beat you at boxing, and I’ll beat you in a cage. No problem. I’ll beat him at boxing and I’ll beat him at a cage fight, no two ways about it,” the Brit added.
To which, Ngannou responded, “You can’t even think about that. Focus on boxing for right now.”
While Tyson Fury acknowledged Ngannou’s punching power, he reiterated his own resume of fighting the best of the best for one and a half decade, which includes Deontay Wilder- one of the greatest knockout artists of all time.
“I’m bulletproof,” Fury went on, “So many people have tried knocking me out before or beating me and I’ve been successful for 15 years in a row, 34 contests and two-time undefeated champion. I’ve heard it all before. All the bulls*** that fighters like to say, I’m going to do this, do that.” [H/T MMA Fighting]
