Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou is now a reality- as one of the biggest fights of the calendar year has just been announced, and it has already ignited the verbal tussle between the two heavyweights.
I’ve been ready the past 3 years: Francis Ngannou tells Tyson Fury
Fury and Ngannou had been linked to potentially share the squared circle for quite some time, but after “The Gypsy King” and his planned undisputed heavyweight championship fight against Oleksandr Usyk fell apart, which got Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champ who was in talks with Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora, to step up against the Briton.
The two have reached an agreement with a fight dated for 28th October in Saudi Arabia. While details are yet to be known whether it will be an exhibition or a fully sanctioned professional bout, the fight will mark Ngannou’s 10-round boxing debut, and Fury’s WBC belt will not be at stake.
Even though much information about the fight are still scarce, the two heavyweights have already begun their war of words on social media. It all started with Fury posting a trailer for the fight and asking Ngannou if he is “ready”.
