Israel Adesanya is still hopeful of sharing the Octagon with Jon Jones sometime in the future.

We’ve beefed. I don’t like him, he doesn’t like me: Israel Adesanya

Adesanya is fresh off a revenge victory over rival Alex Pereira at UFC 287 back in April, which saw him reinstated at the 185-pound throne and is currently waiting on an opponent for his next outing- which will be the winner of Robert Whittaker vs. Dricus du Plessis, who will lock horns at UFC 290 next month.

As he waits for his next fight, “The Last Stylebender” went onto the Impaulsive podcast where he revealed to have buried the hatchet with Jon Jones- the reigning heavyweight champion and former Light Heavyweight titleholder with whom Adesanya has shared a grudgeful past.

While the feud with Jones is seemingly over, Adesanya has not diverted away from wanting to fight “Bones”. During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Adesanya suggested that the bitterness is still there, but he’s uncertain about the chances of the fight actually happening.

“I’ve never had a conversation with this guy, ever,” said Adesanya. “So how am I going to have a friendship, or buddy-dom with someone I’ve never talked to? We’ve beefed. I don’t like him, he doesn’t like me, but we respect each other’s skills.”

“I was a fan before I was even in the UFC, youngest UFC champion, did a lot of great things for his career. Then he called me out and I was like ‘The f*ck did I do to you?’, so I went back at him,” Adesanya went on.“We went back for a bit on Twitter, which was fun. But, you know, the story’s not over.” [H/T BJPenn.com]
