UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones recently blasted UFC Interim Heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall for insisting to book a bout for title unification.
Jon Jones hurled back at UFC interim Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall on Tuesday. Aspinall posted a TikTok video on Monday that showed him getting older as the years passed with the caption, “Waiting for Jon Jones like…”
In the past, Aspinall felt that Jones should have been stripped of the heavyweight title after withdrawing from his scheduled bout with Miocic at UFC 295.
UFC president Dana White had announced on October 25 that Jones tore his pectoral muscle off the bone while training and would need surgery. That has kept him on the sidelines for several months. As ‘Bones’ was unable to compete, Aspinall vs. Sergei Pavlovich for the interim title was booked on the show which the Englishman won.
Despite being on the sidelines, Jones holds the undisputed UFC heavyweight title following his first-round win against Ciryl Gane last year. Aspinall has been calling for a fight against Jones. However, the UFC is planning to book Stipe Miocic as the undisputed champion’s next challenger.
Jon Jones calls out Tom Aspinall
Jones called out Aspinall for being entitled with an “inflated ego” amid a series of shots from the interim champ and noted that he still has unfinished business with Stipe Miocic.
“My stipe fight was booked well before yours came along, you weren’t even the back up fighter.. Trust me you’re the one who is coming around here with the inflated ego and entitlement. That intern championship means absolutely nothing if you seriously haven’t noticed yet. All your fight did at Madison Square Garden was confused the fans. Good thing the UFC and it’s two long time standing champions are all on the same page. The UFC, Stipe and I have unfinished business, it’s really just that simple.”
