Leon Edwards, the UFC Welterweight champion wasted no time in getting the party started after his successful title defense against Colby Covington. He was seen partying with featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. They were partying in a concert hall in Vegas where they were having cigars and dancing to the beats.
This proves they are close to the ring. It seems Edwards is in no mood to stop this party as this win had an emotional side to it.
The fight with Colby Covington became personal after “Chaos” insulted Leon’s dead father. Colby out of nowhere brought up Leon’s dead father in his series of insults aimed at Leon Edwards in a press conference in Vegas before their fight. Edwards dominated his opponent throughout their fight. Colby surprised everyone by staying in range instead of his typical wrestling and grappling style. Colby trying to change his style against Edwards might have cost him the match. The times Colby did go for takedowns, Edwards countered it pretty perfectly. All three judges score the fight in the Englishman’s favor 49-46.

Colby Covington doubled down on his insults regarding Edwards’s dead father. After the fight, he spoke to the media “Why would I have sympathy for a s*x trafficker, someone who has impacted and hurt a lot of people’s lives… No, I don’t feel bad about that at all. Let’s talk about all the victims that he left behind that are surviving the trauma and turmoil that he put these people’s lives through. I don’t feel bad at all. Why would I feel bad for a criminal?”
Colby Covington somehow believes that he won the fight despite every judge voting against him. During his octagon interview with Joe Rogan, the title challenger explained the rationale behind his bizarre claim, saying:
“I didn’t take damage [in] this fight. This is the easiest fight of my life. I thought I won the fight. So it’s all perceptiveness. I will come back stronger, mark my words.”
He went on to claim that his association with former president Donald Trump is the reason behind his loss. Colby believes that all the judges went against him because he is associated with the former president of the USA. Colby entered the octagon carrying the American flag and had a quick chat with Donald Trump before he entered the ring.
Leon Edwards shared his feelings after his win over Colby “ It was way easier than expected,” Edwards said in the postfight interview. “I’m a mixed martial artist. I know everyone sees me as a striker, so it’s good to go out there and show different parts of my game.
It was very difficult,” Edwards also said. “Last night I spoke to my mum and she said, ‘Understand what he said was hurtful but you need to remember where you came from.’”
Edwards is very close to his mother and she was amongst the first welterweight champion spoke to after the fight.
