UFC featherweight Zabit Magomedsharipov might finally be returning to the Octagon.
The Russian has not competed since defeating Calvin Kattar by decision in November 2019. The victory raised Magomedsharipov’s professional record to 18-1 and was the biggest of his career up to that time. Regrettably, that was his final bout in the octagon.
After defeating “The Boston Finisher,” Zabit Magomedsharipov battled a number of injuries. Magomedsharipov had to cancel a scheduled fight with Yair Rodriguez because of health problems. In April 2021, he was also dropped from the rankings.

There was no word on Zabit Magomedsharipov’s potential comeback to the cage until coach Mark Henry announced that his student planned to do so in 2022. The featherweight contender declared his retirement from mixed martial arts in June 2022.
Though many believed the Russian had retired because of health problems, it was untrue. Magomedsharipov clarified that his retirement was a result of problems with the UFC rather than his health after making his statement. Although it was disappointing to see him retire, there was a chance he would come back in the future.

Zabit Magomedsharipov seems to imply on Instagram that he could return to the octagon. Contracts are obviously different now, the former featherweight contender affixed the caption “Contracts are no longer the same.”
It’s really intriguing that the Russian might join the featherweight division. Alexander Volkanovski, the current 145-pound champion, will take on Islam Makhachev, the lightweight champion, in February.
On the bill for the UFC 284 superfight, an interim featherweight champion will also be named. The co-main event of the Perth competition will feature a fight between competitors Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett.
