Vijender Singh will be ending a 15-month long hiatus when he faces the Russian this Friday. Vijender Singh was supposed to fight last year, but the plans didn’t come to fruition because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Vijender Singh last fought against Charles Adamu in November of 2019 at the Caesars Palace in Dubai. In that fight, Singh scored multiple knockdowns and defeated the Ghanian via unanimous decision over eight rounds.
Prior to that, Singh had fought Mike Snider at the Prudential Center in Newark in July of 2019. In that fight, he defeated his American counterpart via TKO in round 4. The fight took place on the undercard of Shakur Stevenson vs Alberto Guevara.
This will be Vijender Singh’s first fight in India in nearly three and a half years. The last time he fought in India was back in August 2017 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. In that fight, he fought against Ernest Amuzu and defeated him via unanimous decision.
His latest opponent Artysh Lopsan is currently 4-1-1 in the professional boxing world. Lopsan is coming off of two back to back victories against Yusup Magomedbekov and Artem Ivanov. Vijender Singh will be at a physical disadvantage in this fight, as the Russian stands at 6-feet-3-inches tall and has a three-inch height advantage over the Biwani born boxer. Artysh Lopsan is also nine years younger than Vijender and he will be having the advantage of youth on his side.
How to watch Vijender Singh vs Artysh Lopsan fight?
The fight between Singh and Lopsan won’t be available on any television network. For the first time in the history of Indian boxing, a major superstar boxer like Vijender Singh will be fighting on pay-per-view.
The fight will be available for online streaming on BookMyShow and Dream11 backed Fancode. Boxing fans have to pay ₹99 to watch the fight online.
What time will the fight start?
The fight will start at 8 PM IST.
Where is the fight taking place?
The fight is taking place at the Majestic Pride Casino Ship in Goa.
While Artysh Lopsan has the physical advantage over Vijender, he lacks experience compared to the Indian boxer. Vijender is undefeated in his boxing career and what he lacks in size makes up for it in speed and counter punching.
Vijender can easily attack the body of Artysh Lopsan and eventually beat him on the scorecards.
My Predictions: Vijender defeats Artysh Lopsan via unanimous decision.
