Indian lightweight phenom Anshul Jubli is all set to fight Japanese pro mixed martial artist Patrick Sho Usani at the ‘Road to UFC‘ tournament in Singapore on June 10.

UFC has announced the participants for ROAD TO UFC, the most significant opportunity for Asia’s top MMA prospects to make it to the world stage. The opening round will take place across two days, June 9 and June 10, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium ahead of UFC 275: TEIXEIRA vs PROCHAZKA, UFC’s first Pay-Per-View event in Southeast Asia on June 12.

The Uttrakahand-born fighter has remained undefeated in his professional career and has compiled an impressive 5-0 record for himself with two wins coming inside the distance.

Anshul Jubli last fought in September 2021 against Mohammad Mahmoudian at Matrix Fight Night 6. In that fight, he scored a first-round Arm triangle choke submission win. Prior to that, he took on Srikant Sekhar at Matrix Fight Night 5, where he defeated him via unanimous decision.

While Anshul Jubli is one of the best MMA prospects to come out of India, his upcoming fight will be the toughest challenge of his professional career in Japan’s Patrick Sho Usani.

Patrick Sho Usani has a professional MMA record of 4-1. He suffered a loss in his last fight against Nobumitsu Osawa at LDH Martial Arts – Pound Storm event in Japan last month. He lost the fight via unanimous decision.

Prior to his loss against Osawa, Patrick was riding on a four-fight winning streak with three of them coming via TKO. This will be his first professional fight outside of Japan.

Anshul Jubli is highly motivated for his upcoming fight

The MMA India Show had the opportunity to talk to Siddharth Singh, who is the owner of the Crosstrain Fight Club in New Delhi and is also the coach of Anshul Jubli.

Siddharth revealed that Patrick is a very high-level MMA fighter who packs a significant power in his punches as evident by the fact that he has three finishes in four of his wins. Siddharth also said that Anshul Jubli is training hard for his upcoming fight and is highly motivated.

Yes, Anshul is fighting Patrick of Japan, and a lot of Indian fans might or might not know that Japan is one of the countries where MMA is the most matured market. So, they had PRIDE, when UFC was growing and PRIDE was already the No.1 organization in the world. Japan is not a new market for MMA, whereas India is very new. So these guys [Patrick] have been doing combat sports for a very long time. Patrick himself was a boxer and he has trained in multiple disciplines. For boxing, he competed in the youth world championship which goes to show you the level of boxing he has. He has also competed at a very high level in Kick Boxing and now in MMA where he has been killing it with brutal TKO and KO’s,” Singh said.

Japan is a very developed market, so it is a big test for us that we are getting to fight such an advanced fighter and from a country where MMA is such a developed sport. It’s a huge step up for us and Anshul is trying his best and is working the hardest he physically can and that’s what we expect from a fighter with Anshul’s caliber. He is not leaving any stone unturned and he is trying his hardest. He is putting in everything and on the day whatever happens…….happens. In preparation, he is putting in everything…..physically, mentally emotionally.

Patrick is an absolute killer, he doesn’t win fights, he devastates people and he is an absolute killer, so it’s a good test for us and Anshul is training hard, he is motivated, he is driven and he is going to be giving in all he can one way or the other,” Siddharth Singh concluded.
