Former UFC lightweight Will Brooks, who is the former Bellator MMA lightweight champion and is currently a PFL lightweight, has started a new initiative regarding mental health issues.
Brooks, who last fought and drew a fight to Rashid Magomedov at PFL 9, was recently in a conversation with noted MMA journalist Luke Thomas for MMA on SiriusXM. Here’s what he had to say about his new mental health initiative for men:
Yeah so on the site like right now it is a lot of read material about studies that have been done in regards to mental health and a couple of insights on that and statistics and things that people don’t think about as far as mental health is concerned. And then there is a little bit of reading material as far as like books to help you have better relationships with your spouse, your friends, your significant other, your family. How to recognise the pressure if you are dealing with depression, anxiety and tips on how to combat those things.
Also this website, it’s going to be a lot of reading material to educate men on how to be vulnerable but also be strong and how to just create this energy around yourself where you can recognise what you’re dealing with right now.
There will be plenty of reading material to direct guys in the right direction.
