Bellator 243 couple of weeks ago, featured a lightweight bout rematch as former Bellator champ Michael Chandler took on former UFC lightweight champ Benson ‘Smooth’ Henderson.

The duo previously went to a split decision back in November 2016 were Chandler slightly edged Henderson. The fans were expecting a similar war from these two grizzled veterans this time around as well. Chandler, however, had other plans as he brutally knocked Henderson out cold in the first round.

The fight marked the last fight of his latest Bellator contract. Despite being in the sport for around 11 years, the Bellator lightweight staple still seems to have been constantly improving his skillset. And all of that wasn’t going to go unnoticed as UFC President Dana White certainly seems to be interested in signing him.

Speaking in an interview, White revealed he’s looking forward to getting some negotiations underway with Chandler. (via BJPENN.com):

“They said, I didn’t know this, but they told me that he said he wanted to meet,” White said. “And I said I’d love to meet with him. That guy has earned it and, yeah, would love to talk to him.”

Speaking in an interview, Chandler claimed that he is seemingly open to a move to the UFC, provided if the right offer is made.

“It’s all in God’s hands,” Chandler said. “God has opened and closed doors at the right time. If this is the last time I step in the Bellator cage, to everybody here, you have no idea the impact you’ve made on my life. We’ll see what happens. Every single Lightweight on the clock, you’re on notice. Scott Coker, you’re on the clock. Let’s get it done.”

How would Chandler stack up against the decorated UFC lightweight division?

Just like Justin Gaethje, Ben Askren, and Marlon Moraes, it would be a shame to see Chandler hanging up without witnessing how he would match up against the top tier, cream of the crop competition in the world.

Chandler (21-5 MMA, 18-5 BMMA), has been the Bellator lightweight champion for a whopping three times. He has wins over notable names like Patricky Freire, Eddie Alvarez, David Rickels, Derek Campos, Benson Henderson, Brandon Girtz, and many more.
