UFC 243 on October 6 will feature an absolute slugfest as middleweight champ Robert ‘The Reaper’ Whittaker will return back into action to take on kickboxing maniac and undefeated interim middleweight champ Israel ‘The Last Stlyebender’ Adesanya in a unification bout.
Whittaker has been out of action for almost 14 months as he suffered abdominal hernia and a twisted and collapsed bowel, just few days before his UFC 234 bout against Kelvin Gastelum. Adesanya on the other hand, took on Gastelum for the interim title at UFC 237 in April 2019. Adesanya went through a lot of adversity, however managed to get the job done. The fact that someone like Gastelum, a former welterweight just like him, could trouble an elite kickboxer like Adesanya in the striking department, makes Whittaker optimistic about his chances as he makes a bold prediction speaking on Triple M’s The Rush Hour.
“That’s the biggest thing I took away from that fight [with Kelvin Gastelum],” Robert Whittaker said. “If Gastelum can puts hands on him, I can puts hands on him. Honestly, I think I’m going to finish him. I’m definitely going to look for the finish, but I think I’m going to finish him somewhere in the second, third round.”
Whittaker will have to hand Adesanya his first professional loss at UFC 243.
