Former interim title challenger Tony Ferguson suffered one of the worst losses of his pro MMA career when he was brutally knocked out in the second round by Michael Chandler on the main card of UFC 274 which took place at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Tony Ferguson was riding on a three-fight losing streak when he took on Michael Chandler, who himself was on a two-fight losing streak. While, UFC president Dana White had made it clear that no fighter was in the danger of getting cut, it was still an important fight for Tony Ferguson.

The fight was like any other classic fight involving Tony Ferguson. There was a lot of back-and-forth action early on. Ferguson managed to score a knockdown early in the fight and then both fighters traded leather until the end of the first round when Michael Chandler scored a stunning takedown. However, things started going downhill and took a turn to the worst when Michael Chandler landed a stunning front kick on Ferguson’s face that sent ‘El Cucuy’ to the ground.

It was one of the most brutal front kick KO’s of the year and with that KO, Michael Chandler ended his two-fight losing skid.

Tony Ferguson vows to be back

Following the KO, Tony Ferguson was transported to the Hotel for a CT scan, where the results came in negative and he was discharged after.

Tony Ferguson further posted on Instagram that he will be back following to the cage soon.

“I’ll be back! -CSO-“ Tony Ferguson posted.

Ferguson has been going through a rough patch in his career. Prior to his loss to Chandler, he was defeated by Beniel Dariush at UFC 262. Before that, he was defeated by  Charles Oliveira at UFC 256 which was preceded by his loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249, which ended his 12-fight winning streak.
