Former heavyweight champion of the world Tyson Fury defeated Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas via unanimous decision.
The ringside judges scored the fight 16-112, 117-111 and 118-110 in favor of Manchester native. With this win, the Briton improves his professional record to 29-0-1, out of which 20 wins have come inside the distance.
Even though the scorecards look wide, it tells us little about how the fight went. It didn’t go the way Fury had planned as Wallin who was a huge 30/1 underdog cut open Fury’s left eye with a hard jab after which it started bleeding profusely leaving him dependent on just one eye to go through for the rest of the fight. However, he overcame adversity and defeated Otto Wallin.
“It is all heart and determination,” said Fury. “If I can keep going I will keep going. He’s a tough guy. I hit him with some chin shots and some body shots, and he kept coming. He [was] undefeated, but tonight I was the man.”
Here’s how twitter reacted to this victory:
One thing no one can question about Tyson Fury is his courage. Going overseas to dethrone Wlad. Getting up after being KO’D by Wilder to finish their fight. Overcoming a horrible cut tonight. Not to mention mental health and obesity. Tyson Fury is the real life Rocky! 👏👏👏👏

with all the added drama tonight, Fury is safely home for a Wilder rematch-pending his eye healing. Now all attention turns to @BronzeBomber as he battles Luis Ortiz. And we will also see the Joshua-Ruiz rematch this yr.–so heavyweight division giving boxing some excitement.

We’ve always known @Tyson_Fury can box but now you know he can fight.
With limited vision in his right eye due to horrendous cuts, he changes tactics and pace of the fight and goes to war

I don't like how ESPN had to break it to Ben Davison that the Fury cut is from a punch and not a headbutt. That's a commission's job. ESPN's job is to simply broadcast the fight tonight #FuryWallin
