UFC is finalizing the main event fight between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez for the Fight Night event on November 13. The fight is set to headline the card which is set to take place in Las Vegas Nevada. The fight is not yet official but UFC is very close to making this matchup a done deal. According to the sources, Max Holloway has expected this fight and the process from Yair’s side is yet remaining. Also UFC president Dana White recently stated that the winner of this fight will be the next in line for the championship opportunity. ESPN was first to report the news.
Good to go, per sources. Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA) vs. Yair Rodriguez (@panteraufc) will headline UFC Fight Night on Nov. 13. Holloway agreed to the date this week. Gotta believe winner takes on the Volkanovski vs. Ortega winner from tomorrow for the belt. Heck of a main event. pic.twitter.com/I8zZreIrDg

Max Holloway vs Yair Rodriguez rescheduled
Max Holloway vs Yair Rodriguez were supposed to headline UFC on ESPN 26 on July 17. But just a few days before the fight Max had to pull out of the fight due to an injury he sustained during a training session. UFC tried their very best to rebook the fight but there weren’t many dates left to book this fight. So now UFC is finally planning to get this fight as the main event for the November card.
Max Holloway is coming off a spectacular performance against Calvin Kattar. He broke several records in that fight. He broke his previous record of most strikes landed in a fight. He dominantly won the fight. Before that fight, he had faced back-to-back defeats at the hands of current champion Alexander Volkanovski. In his fourth title defense, Holloway faced Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 245. He lost the fight via unanimous decision, ending his featherweight reign.
The rematch was booked immediately and this time it was Max Holloway who performed brilliantly against Alex. But the results surprised everyone as Alex was again announced the winner via split decision. Now Max would be fighting an important fight against Yair because if he gets the win he might get another shot at the title and fight the winner of Volkanovski and Ortega.
Yair Rodriguez hasn’t fought for a long time in the UFC. His last fight was against Jeremy Stephens. Yair won the rematch via unanimous decision. In December 2020, UFC anti-doping administrator USADA announced that Rodríguez had been suspended for six months for failing to notify USADA of his whereabouts and being unavailable for drug testing.
