UFC Middleweight contender Jack Hermansson after his latest win over Edmen Shahbazyan at UFC Vegas 27 has called out top-ranked fighters in his division.
Jack Hermansson bounced back from his loss to Marvin Vettori in a very dominant fashion. Jack fought Marvin Vettori in December and faced defeat at the hands of the Italian. Vettori is now going to fight for the title against Israel Adesanya in their rematch at UFC 263. Hemrnasson came back stronger from that loss after his dominant win over rising contender Edmen who faced his second career loss at UFC Vegas 27.
Jack got picked apart by Edmen in their first round but he came back stronger in the second and third round of their fight. He took Edmen down in the second round and landed some heavy elbows and punches that gave Shahbazyan a huge cut. Jack then changed his game plan completely from a striker to a wrestler and won the rest of the fight decisively. The last round was a completely commanding round for Hermansson as he got on top of Edmen and never let him get back on his feet and sealed the fight in his favour.
Jack Hermansson wants a top 5
After the fight, Jack showed his interest in top-ranked fighters and called out a few names.
“I want to be fighting guys like Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa, the winner of Brunson and Till could be a potential fight, so yeah, those guys,” Hermansson told reporters at the UFC Fight Night 188 post-fight news conference. “It depends when I have a good opponent, but I want one more fight this year for sure. If any of the big guys are ready for me this year, I’m up for it.”
Jack Hermansson also shared his experience after battling against COVID-19 and finally getting back to the win column.
“I’m really happy I got the victory, especially after having COVID and stuff. I didn’t know how my body was going to react out there.” Hermansson said. “I wasn’t happy with the first round of the fight. I couldn’t find my timing or anything like that, but as the fight went, I managed to change my approach and get the fight to the ground and do what I do best.”
Jack is now 6-2 in his last 8 fights and is a top-ranked fighter in the division. He is just one or two wins away from getting a title shot.
